The Office - Key Office Vocabulary

This dialogue introduces kids to key office vocabulary in a simple and interactive way, building their language skills around real-world environments.

Teacher: "Good morning, class! Today, we’re going to talk about different places and things you can find in an office. Can anyone tell me what an office is?"

Ella: "It’s a place where people work!"

Teacher: "Exactly! In an office, people have jobs and they work together to get things done. Let’s learn some new words. First, can anyone tell me what a desk is?"

Tommy: "It’s a table where you work!"

Teacher: "Yes, that’s right! A desk is where you keep your computer, papers, and other things you need for work. Now, what about a meeting room? Does anyone know what happens there?"

Mia: "That’s where people talk about important stuff."

Teacher: "Correct! A meeting room is where people gather to discuss ideas and make decisions. Next, who can guess what a printer does?"

Jake: "It makes copies of papers?"

Teacher: "Exactly, a printer makes copies of documents, which are papers that people use for work. Now, let’s learn a new word: colleague. Can anyone guess what a colleague is?"

Ella: "Is it a friend?"

Teacher: "Kind of! A colleague is someone you work with, like a work friend. They help you with your job. What about laptop?"

Tommy: "That’s like a computer you can carry!"

Teacher: "Right! A laptop is a small computer you can take anywhere. Finally, can anyone tell me what deadline means?"
