Farm - Kids Vocabulary

This dialogue introduces kids to key farm-related vocabulary in a simple, interactive way while helping them associate words with the real world.

Teacher: "Good morning, class! Today, we’re going to talk about farms. Who knows what a farm is?"

Sophie: "It’s a place where people grow food!"

Teacher: "Exactly, Sophie! A farm is a place where people grow food and take care of animals. Let’s learn some new words today. First, who can tell me what a tractor is?"

Liam: "Isn’t that the big machine that farmers use?"

Teacher: "Yes! A tractor is a powerful vehicle that helps farmers plow the fields, plant seeds, and even harvest crops. Now, does anyone know what a barn is?"

Ella: "A barn is where animals live, right?"

Teacher: "That’s right! A barn is a building on the farm where animals like cows, horses, and chickens are kept. Next, can anyone tell me what crops are?"

Mia: "Are they the plants that grow on the farm?"

Teacher: "Exactly, Mia! Crops are plants that farmers grow, like corn, wheat, and vegetables. Now, let’s talk about animals. What does a sheep give us?"

Tommy: "Sheep give us wool!"

Teacher: "Good job! Sheep give us wool, which is used to make clothes. Now, what sound does a cow make?"

Lily: "Moo!"

Teacher: "Perfect! Cows give us milk, and they make a 'moo' sound. Lastly, who knows what a scarecrow is?"

Liam: "It’s the thing that stands in the field to scare birds away!"

Teacher: "Exactly! A scarecrow is used to keep birds from eating the crops."
